Party for the Poor People
Last week, the social club of our school organized a party for the poor in our neighbourhood. The event began at 9:30am in the neighbourhood field. A lot of people, both adults and children were gathered there. The social club members had arranged canopies to be put up. There were chairs and tables for people to sit.
The event began with an opening speech by the Social Club president, Hazli Ibrahim of Form 5 Science 1. He welcomed all the people present and gave a short introduction of the club. Then, he introduced our school Principal, Puan Julia Willie Jock and our Club Advisor, Mr. Adrian.
After the opening speech, we had some games for the both adults and children. We had game such as tug-of-war, three-legged race and bobbing for apples. Everyone had a lot of fun at the games. We also gave out simple prizes to the lucky fellow winners.
After the exciting games, lunch was served. Some of the food was prepared by the parents of the Social Club's members. While the rest was donated by restaurants around the area. The food was delicious and plentiful. After the lunch, people helped the Social Club members to clean up. The leftover food was packed and distributed to the people to take home.
We had a wonderful time together at the event. We are glad that we could give the poor people in the neighbourhood a good time for them to remember us. The event was a success and hoping that we could organize something like this event to help the poor next year.
